Help using the the Quocirca website
Welcome to the Quocirca web site - a source of freely available, independent research and analysis.  The Quocirca methodology enables Quocirca to make high-quality output available at no cost to the user.

There are two main ways to search through the site - either through the use of the standard free text search capability, or through the taxonomic search capability (the "Report Finder" to the right of this window).

The free text search engine will return all reports and articles that have the chosen words or phrase in them.  The search engine works in the same manner as the major search engines - inputing security mobility will provide back all documents with both or either word in them ranked by the number of times and position of the words found.  Inputing +security +mobility will only find documents with both words in.  +security -mobility will find documents that have security in them, but not mobility.  "Mobile security" will only return documents that have the phrase "mobile security" in them.

The Report Finder uses meta data tags to help you drill down into our research and analysis library.  The choice of subjects is additive - for example, clicking on "2004", "UK" and "Storage" will show all documents that meet all three criteria, whereas clicking only on "Storage" and "UK" will find all documents meeting both criteria.  Therefore, clicking on, for example, both "The Register" and "VNUNet" under "Publications" will not return any documents - Quocirca does not publish the same article in both places.

Therefore, select all the subjects that will help to narrow down your search - clicking "Submit" at the bottom of the report finder will then return all documents that may be of interest that cover all the subjects chosen.

To narrow down your choice further, click on one year only, and/or one geography and/or one publication.

To start your search again, please just click on "Reset" at the bottom of the Report Finder.

Examples of the use of the report finder can be seen here.
